FAQ
Why Barbados?
Barbados is considered one of the ‘jewels of the Caribbean’.
It offers a safe, clean tropical oasis with a plethora of beautiful
sand beaches, surf and every amenity you may want while enjoying
the sun. Still not convinced? Read anything or look at any picture
from anywhere in Barbados – that problem should now be solved!
When is the best time to visit Barbados?
One answer is simply anytime you wish! Your choice depends on what
you want. Prime season is generally the period between November
1 and April 30 but Barbados’ climate is warm and inviting
all year round. Hurricane season is mostly in September and October
but being one of the most easterly of the Caribbean Islands, Barbados
rarely has a problem with them. Worst case scenario – you
don’t need a hairdryer!
Why Kinloch?
Kinloch is for those looking for a nice affortable apartment dwelling
situated near gorgeous Crane Beach. It offers two fully self-contained
apartments, one on the upper floor, the other on the ground floor
What should we see in Barbados?
Everything, some things or just a little – it entirely depends
on whether you want a sleepy quiet getaway or you want to get up
and enjoy all that Barbados offers. For those who want to venture
out there is literally pages of things to see and do but a few sightseeing
musts would include:
-
Bethsheba on the beautiful eastern seaboard (caution dangerous
surf)
-
North Point
-
Harrison’s Cave
-
Andromeda Gardens
-
Any Beach anywhere on the island!
-
Any Restaurant anywhere on the island!
Do we need money or will credit cards do?
It is up to you. We fly there all the time with only what we had
in our wallets when we left Canada. Credit Cards are universally
accepted and you can buy Barbados money inside the airport, opposite
where you pick up your bags. There are ATMs located around the island
(especially near Bridgetown) and several banks – including
one just down the road at six cross roads (Emerald City Plaza).
Don't worry - they make it easy for you to spend your money!
Where do we go for sailing, surfing, scuba diving, etc….?
Kinloch guests have access to Coconut Court Hotel where anything
and everything you want is available. Just call (246) 427-1655 and
ask for the activity desk. They will address your needs, quote you
the cost and off you go!!! By the way they also have two restaurants,
pool, great beach and lots and lots of bottles behind their bar!
Did we mention Kinloch guests get a 15% discount on food?
Where do we go for swimming?
Almost anywhere you want! Just bring your swimsuit wherever you
go and you will easily be able to find beach after beach after beautiful
beach. Pools are available at almost all hotels but some may have
restrictions (those bums!) on who uses them. Kinloch guests can
go ahead and use the pools at either Sam Lord’s Castle or
Coconut Court Hotel anytime.
Where do we eat or buy food?
There is a, pardon the pun, smorgasbord of great restaurants all
around Barbados. Some of our favorites are Pisces, 39 Steps, Carambola
and Champers. Kinloch is just down the road from a local grocery
store that offers anything you want including food, beverages, booze,
mix and a fabulous bakery! There are other grocery stores by Oistins
where there is also a scenic fish market where you can buy fresh
from the boat a wide variety of seafood. There is also a Friday
evening fish fry here that is an experience for those looking for
an experience! Provided she is still open, Faye (246) 423-5429 makes
delicous take out Caribbean delicacies and she is located about
a 100 yard amble away! We almost always order 1 or 2 meals from
her when we are there and recommend you do too, but give a day’s
notice!
